The Piemaggio winery is located in the Le Fioraie area of Castellina in Chianti, on the northwest side of the town, along the road leading from Castellina in Chianti to Poggibonsi, in the heart of the historical part of Chianti Classico. Piemaggio is the name of the farm bearing the same name now located in the center of the farm property.

The vineyards are surrounded by the forest that, with its high elevation and constant fresh breezes, helps preserve the vineyards and grapes from summer drought. Furthermore, the marl and alberese soils, the true geological hallmark of the Chianti Classico, guarantee well-drained vineyards, essential for the good vegetative development of the grapevines.

The main grape variety in Piemaggio is Sangiovese, with about 10 hectares in total, on which a careful selection of the clones used has been made, with six currently identified. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are also grown to produce an IGT in addition to Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo, and Ciliegiolo, the historical Chianti Classico grape varieties.

“A winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico”
The vineyards cover 12 hectares, with several plots having a south-southwest exposure. The grapevines are all trained on a guyot system.
