Azienda Agricola Rodano

Fattoria di Rodano is a farm located in Castellina in Chianti, in the province of Siena, where wine, oil, and free-range pigs are produced. Enrico Pozzesi is the current farm manager. The winery has been a member of the Chianti Classico Consortium since the early 1960s. Grape production has followed organic farming rules since 2007.

In 1958, when he bought the farm, Carlo Pozzesi began planting vineyards where previously they had been non-existent. As a result, 1967 was the first year sold in bottles.

Today the farm covers more than 100 hectares, with a third being production vineyards. Although not yet in operation, the others will bear fruit in about two years. In addition to the traditional Chianti Classico and the Riserva Viacosta, two Supertuscans are also produced: Monna Claudia (a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet-Sauvignon) and Lazzicante (a pure Merlot).

The old vineyards have gradually been replanted for some years, incorporating the recommendations from the “Chianti Classico 2000” research, especially regarding rootstocks, planting density, and vine training forms.

“Wine is made from human labor that transforms the grapes that are the fruit of the vine”
Since 2007, organic farming methods have been used in grape production.
